Bombay High court rejects gangster Abu Salem's request for a parole to get married to Sayed Bahar Kausar

New Delhi: Bombay High court on Tuesday rejected gangster Abu Salem's plea for a parole to get married to his girlfriend/ reported wife Sayed Bahar Kausar. The gangster, who has been convicted in the 1993 serial blast, had sought 45-day leave to get married to 27-year-old Kausar. The gangster reportedly married the Mumbra woman in a running train when he was on his way to Lucknow for a court hearing in 2014.
Bahar had threatened to commit suicide claiming that her image had been maligned due to her association with Salem and said that she had no option but to make their marriage formal. "We have got a letter stating Salem wants a 45-day parole to get married on 5 May. We are looking into the matter,” Parambir Singh, Thane police commissioner was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times in April. The Police had rejected the plea.
According to a report in Mid Day, Kausar, a wannabe actress, met Salem in Mumbai's Taloja Jail. While he promised to give her a break in the film industry through his Bollywood contacts, the two reportedly fell in love during their meetings in the jail. In 2017, a special TADA court convicted Salem and five others and awarded life sentence to Salem for conspiracy to commit terror offences.

Salem and Kauser were under scanner about two years ago, when photographs, showing them together, were leaked to a newspaper. In fact, Kauser reportedly accompanied Salem during his trials in Delhi and Lucknow.
While some reports mention that Kauser is a commerce graduate from Mumbai, there were others which cited that she was a lawyer. Kausar stays with her mother, maternal grandfather, and an elder brother- all of whom have reportedly supported her decision to get married to Salem.
